Celebrating American Fashion Through CFDA x Vogue's United Flags of Fashion Campaign
I was honored to be part of the CFDA x Vogue United Flags of Fashion campaign, presented with Rockefeller Center and America250 in celebration of America's 250th anniversary.
I was asked to reimagine the flag of South Carolina and it was such a meaningful experience. My custom-designed flag was unveiled at Rockefeller Center alongside more than 120 designs from fellow American designers and brands, all celebrating the creativity and spirit of American fashion.
Designing the South Carolina Flag
I was thrilled to be assigned South Carolina because of its incredible history as one of the original thirteen colonies. As I learned more about the state, I gained an even greater appreciation for its role in shaping our country's story.
When creating my design, I wanted to stay true to the symbols that make the flag so recognizable. I kept the iconic palmetto tree and crescent while giving them a more refined look. The 13 stars surrounding the tree represent the original colonies and I chose to keep the deep indigo blue background as a nod to the uniforms worn by South Carolina soldiers during the Revolutionary War.
It was important to me that the design honored the state's history while feeling fresh and timeless.
I've always believed that "American fashion is freedom—the confidence to express individuality and continually redefine style through culture, creativity, and innovation." This campaign was a wonderful way to bring that idea to life.
